FAQ’S

How often should I get my dog groomed?

Appointment frequency should be based on your dog’s needs. Generally, a fluff and fresh or premium groom should be done every 1-2 months to keep the coat happy, healthy and debris free. A deluxe groom should be done every 3-6 months to ensure there is no matting or tangling in your dog’s coat.

How often do nails need trimming?

Nail trimming frequency varies, as every dog’s nails grow at different speeds. We recommend that nail trims are done every two weeks to maintain nail health and to prevent harm from overgrown nails, cracking or splintering. We also perform nail grinding services where a dremel is used to smooth and round out sharp nails.

When can I bring my puppy in for their first groom and what should I expect?

Your Puppy can be Introduced to grooming between 12 and 16 weeks of age with their second round of vaccinations.
The first few visits are focused on slowly introducing your puppy to the sounds, sights and smells of a grooming salon, as well as creating a positive experience. The first few appointments should consist of a bath and brush out, ear cleaning, a nail trim and depending on your puppy’s temperament, a light trim around their face.

How much does it cost?

We are a competitive pricing salon in the city. The prices for each service is established by your dog’s breed and coat type. You can contact us through our page or by phone to request a quote for your dog.

Do I get the same groomer each time?

At sWag we believe that every one of our groomers are unique in their craft. We encourage pet parents to book with all of our lovely staff as everyone has a different flair. We also understand that special bonds are sometimes formed between dogs and groomers. If there is a particular groomer you would like to work with, please don’t be afraid to request them for your dog’s future appointments.

Can my senior dog still be groomed?

We try to cater to all dogs while ensuring their health and safety is our top priority. A senior dog can be groomed as long as:
– They can stand for a minimum of 20 minutes at a time
– Have control of their bladder and bowels
– Do not have signs of seizures
– Do not have loose teeth
– Do not have any medical concerns that may diminish their experience

Do not hesitate to contact us as we may be able to accommodate certain conditions.

It’s important to have these safety measures in place as grooming can be a disorienting and tiring process for senior dogs.

Can I stay and watch?

Unfortunately, we do not encourage pet parents to stay and watch during the service. Dogs can become over excited or agitated when they see their owners. This can make their appointment a stressful and unsafe one. We cater to multiple dogs at the same time, including dogs who may be sensitive or scared of people. We want to ensure all dogs in our care feel safe and comfortable. If there are questions or concerns we are more than happy to answer them during your check in and check out.

Can I bring my own shampoo?

You can bring your own shampoo as long as it is recommended and/or approved by your vet and specifically made for dogs.

My dog can be aggressive, can I still bring them in?

At sWag, we believe that every pooch deserves to be pampered and try our best to accommodate every dog. We have safety measures in place such as large spaces, treats, mussels and safety ties on our tables to ensure the safety of staff members and pets. Our staff are more than happy to attempt our services on reactive dogs however, if the health and safety of our staff and your dog is in question the service will be stopped or denied for that day.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept debit, credit, American express and cash at our salon.
